The Gallery Collections

The 2016 Collection

My inspiration:

This collection was created by taking inspiration from outfits designed by Alexander McQueen. As a team, we wanted to work with dark, beautiful, textured pattern and shine.  Once the outfits were chosen for each model, we worked on their hair to bring a fresh look which suited our brand. We simplified our ideas to add harmony to the images, the results of which are stunning.

The 2015 Collection

My inspiration:

The title for this collection is Romantic Empress. We wanted to continue to work with texture within the hair.  Plaits and braids added strong focal points and structure to the looks. Movement also played a part to show softness and the delicate nature of hair.

The 2014 Collection

My inspiration:

For this collection, I wanted to create something that was inspired by an "under water" theme. Having looked closely at the great barrier reef, for inspiration, and the detail within the shapes of rock and coral, it became apparent that it had many variations. At times the surfaces appeared almost dry and fluffy in texture, whereas others were smooth, glossy and shiny.  We tried to capture these two concepts within our new collection. I find that hair styling grows organically, and it does this as we bring ideas together. Using these two new ideas has given us a great end result, I'm really pleased with the new collection.

The lighting (throughout the shoot) was crucial. We decided to work with a muted feel of colour, this was to symbolise light passing through the water, highlighting even the smallest of detail, whilst creating depth, shadow and mystery. I think the lighting and styling fuse the concept, from idea to reality, perfectly.

The models were all sourced locally and were truly great to work with. I couldn't have got this collection off the ground without the help and support from everyone in the salon and the fabulous team, who worked so brilliantly on the day.

I was also pleased to have the chance to work with Julie Hurst, from Past and Precious, to share with her my ideas and to get the clothing styles right. It was also great to be able to have Gavin and Roddy, from Roddy Paine Studios, on board who did an amazing job capturing the perfect shots for us throughout the day.

Many thanks to everyone involved.
